Why HomeTechLAB Exists
Researching a purchase is harder than it should be. Whether it's a home battery system, a laptop, or a pair of headphones, you can spend hours trawling through articles, spec sheets, and conflicting reviews — and end up more confused than when you started.
We built HomeTechLAB to cut through that noise. We use AI to read across a wide range of sources — manufacturer specifications, official UK pricing, regulations, and genuine user reviews from people who actually own the products — and summarise them into one balanced, UK-focused view. Our aim is to save you that legwork and give you a useful starting point for your own research.
We cover the full spectrum of consumer tech: laptops, tablets, graphics cards and PC components, headphones and audio, gaming gear, smartphones, wearables, smart home devices, and home energy systems. If it's tech you'd buy for your home, we research and write about it — with UK prices, UK retailers, and UK standards.
Why We Use AI
Every guide on HomeTechLAB is researched and drafted with the help of AI, then reviewed and edited by a human before it's published. We do this deliberately, because it lets us:
Keep guides current
Technology, prices, and availability change constantly. AI lets us revisit and update our content far more often than a small team could manually, so the information you read stays as accurate as possible.
Weigh up real-world opinion at scale
AI can read across a huge range of genuine user reviews and expert write-ups to spot which products consistently earn positive feedback from people who actually own them — which informs how we rank them.
Stay honest about what we do and don't do
We don't physically test every product in a lab, and we never pretend to. Where our assessment is based on research rather than hands-on use, we say so.
Crucially, nothing is published automatically. Every article is checked by our editor, Tom Barrows, to the best of his ability before it goes live. AI does the heavy lifting of research and drafting; a real person reviews what you read.

I'm a UK-based tech enthusiast. I don't write our guides from scratch — I use AI to research and draft them, then review and check every one to the best of my ability before it's published. I started HomeTechLAB because I was tired of wading through dozens of conflicting reviews every time I wanted to buy something, and thought there had to be a better way to bring it all together.
